Coral Gables, Florida (October 15, 2009) – Attorney Christopher Marlowe and Paralegal Vickie Meacomes were recently featured as guest speakers at a seminar sponsored by the Florida Justice Association. The 2009 Masters of Justice Civil Litigation for Paralegals and Legal Assistants covered a range of topics and provided valuable tips and shared techniques to help paralegals in their day to day activities.

Specifically, Marlowe and Meacomes spoke on the topic of Interacting with All of the Players in the Court: Clients, Fact Witnesses, Lay Witnesses, Expert Witnesses, Adverse/Hostile Witnesses, Bailiff, the Clerks, and the Judge. The two took the time to explain the attorney/paralegal roles and relationships when it comes to interacting with these various groups while at trial. The speech was extremely well received.

Coral Gables Attorney Michael A. Haggard Serves as Guest Speaker at ASIS National Security Council Convention

Coral Gables, FL – (September 22, 2009) – Michael A. Haggard, partner at Coral Gables-based The Haggard Law Firm, recently spoke on the topic of negligent security at the ASIS National Security Council Convention in Atlanta, Georgia.

Haggard drew from his previous experience sharing details of the Sami Barrak case. In November 2007, Mr. Haggard received a verdict of $102.7 million, the largest verdict recorded in history for a case of this genre on behalf of a single individual. Mr. Haggard shared with security professionals how to prevent these incidents from occurring at commercial properties and ultimately deterring legal action.

Haggard concentrates his trial practice in personal injury litigation specializing in pool drownings, premises liability, negligent security, wrongful death and medical malpractice. Attorney Todd Michaels Joins the Haggard Law Firm

Coral Gables, FL - (September 22, 2009) - The Haggard Law Firm is pleased to announce that Todd Michaels has joined the firm as an associate attorney. Michaels was hired to handle a wide array of firm cases including those involving negligent security, wrongful death and other personal injury incidents.

Michaels brings more than seven years of legal experience to the firm. Prior to joining The Haggard Law Firm, he was an attorney for the Federal Public Defender's Office. Upon graduation from law school, Michaels served as Assistant Public Defender in the Misdemeanor, Juvenile and Felony Divisions.

Todd Michaels has been honored as a Superlawyers Rising Star, a Florida Trend Legal Elite Up & Coming Attorney and has also been featured in Marquis' Who's Who in America.

Michaels spends his personal time as a role model and mentor for at-risk youth through the 5000 Role Models program. He also educates police recruits attending the Academy about the importance of honesty and thoroughness in all aspects of a case and talks to inner city children about the legal profession. Most recently, Michaels became involved with the Carma Foundation, which aims to measurably improve the health of poor and vulnerable women and children in Haiti.
