Michael Haggard Featured Guest Speaker at 2012 NDPA Symposium

San Diego, CA - March 8, 2012 - Partner Michael Haggard was a featured guest speaker and moderator at the 2012 National Drowning Prevention Alliance Symposium.  This year the symposium was held in San Diego, California.  Haggard first addressed the packed ballroom on the topic "Handling Child Drowning Cases in Today's Legal Environment."  He then also served as moderator for a panel discussion on "Drowning Risk - Prevention of Incidents and Litigation Perceptions and Reality."

Haggard has much experience in the area of pool drowning and entrapments.  He gained a significant amount of national exposure in 2003 after winning two back-to-back record setting $100 million verdicts in cases dealing with pool accidents involving children. He has handled numerous pool cases since that time for the firm.

The NDPA recognizes, addresses, and supports drowning prevention efforts for persons of all ages and drowning risks in all types of bodies of water. As a short-term goal the organization is striving to place emphasis on research, awareness, and policy changes to impact the incidence of toddler drowning in swimming pools.

Haggard earned his bachelors degree from Florida State University and his law degree from the University of Miami. He currently resides in South Florida with his wife Bekki and their two children Madison and Carson.
