Miami, FL - December 7, 2012 - The Haggard Law Firm received a $5.7 million verdict on behalf of client Zoreta Snell. Snell's son, Trinard, was shot and killed on the property in June 2009. Although aware of previous violent crime on the property, Family Food Saver invited Trinard and a friend to set up a cash car wash without informing them of the dangers associated with the location.
In the year and a half prior to Mr. Snell’s murder, there were 3 to 4 violent armed robberies on the outside area of the premises. The defendant corporation appreciated the danger to themselves and fortified the inside of the convenience store with two layers of bulletproof glass. All of the stores products and employees were behind the glass. The owner of Family Food Saver wouldn’t walk outside on her own property unless her husband, an armed security guard, was escorting her with a weapon.
Unfortunately, within three months of the car wash being open it was robbed and Mr. Snell was killed. There were no working security features on the outside of the premises and security cameras had been broken for over a year.
A press conference was held on Tuesday, December 11 to discuss the outcome of the case. Media coverage of the press conference can be seen by clicking here.
