Haggard Law Firm Sponsors Flag Football Team Now Headed to Championship in Dallas, TX

Miami, FL - January 27, 2014 - RYAN Sports Flag Football team will be traveling to Dallas to compete in the NFL Flag Football Championship taking place February 8.  Players include Attorney Michael Haggard's children, Madison and Carson. 

The team's achievement was highlighted on WSVN-7.  The transcipt of the segment is below:

So. Fla. players to compete in flag football championship  

PALMETTO BAY, Fla. (WSVN) -- Flag football players from South Florida have joined forces to blitz the competition in Texas at one of the nation's biggest stadiums.

The RYAN Football Program features several teams that traveled to Houston to take part in the NFL Flag Football Regional Tournament in Houston back in December. "I'm so proud of everybody; we did amazing," said player Carson Haggard. "We tried our hardest, even though it was freezing. We just did great; it was awesome."

The under-10 group battled their way through a gauntlet of 30 teams with an undefeated streak of 7-0.

They weren't the only victors. The under-12 squad fought their way to a 6-0 record to take the top spot. "That was a great tournament," said player AJ Garcia. "We won a lot of games, we had some games that we were a little nervous, but we went through and won it all."

Coach Rudy Fernandez's talented players attend different South Florida schools, although the majority go to Alexander Montessori School in Palmetto Bay.

Fernandez also coaches an all-girls team that fully supports the boys in their quest but also has a message for them. "It's really cool being on an all-girls team playing against boys," said player Marissa Tannebaum. "Yeah, to show that girls can play football too, and we can beat the boys."

A boys team that now has a much higher goal in their sights. "I'm beyond excited for the kids," said Fernandez. "Just to get a chance to say they played in Dallas Cowboys Stadium, where professional athletes play, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these kids."

The team will head to Dallas to take part in the national championship, which is scheduled for Feb. 8 at AT&T Stadium. "As a coach, just watching the kids celebrate, and watching how excited they were after they won just made everything worth it," said Fernandez. "Coaching football is fun. These kids are the ones who put in the hard work, and seeing it all pay off was amazing, was incredible."

Michael Haggard Speaks at MDJA Past President Seminar Series

Coral Gables, FL - November 21, 2013 - Managing Partner Michael Haggard took part in the Miami Dade Justice Association's Past President Seminar Series.  As the title implies, Haggard is a past president of the organization and address the group on the topic "Slicing and Dicing Experts."

His expertise in personal injury, pool drownings and negligent security cases has resulted in his being a highly sought after speaker at conventions and meetings across the country.  Most recently he was a featured speaker for the National Crime Victim Bar Association and National Center for Victims of Crime annual convention in Phoenix, Arizona.  He has also been a guest speaker for the American Association of Community Justice Professionals and the annual ASIS Conference addressing security professionals on how to prevent incidents from occurring at commercial properties and ultimately deterring legal action. 

Haggard earned his bachelors degree from Florida State University and his law degree from the University of Miami. He resides in South Florida with his wife Bekki and their two children Madison and Carson.
