Attorneys Michael Haggard & Douglas McCarron Named to Florida Trend's 2009 Florida Legal Elite

Coral Gables, Florida (August 3, 2009) - The Haggard Law Firm is pleased to announce that partners Michael Haggard and Douglas McCarron have recently been named to Florida Trend's 2009 Florida Legal Elite. Both were listed as top attorneys in the state of Florida in this special edition of the magazine.

Also, for the first time since Legal Elite was published six years ago, it presented the Legal Elite Hall of Fame. To be considered, an attorney must have been a Legal Elite winner for each of the past five years. A panel of lawyers was consulted to evaluate that list and make the final selection. Michael Haggard was among attorneys listed for this prestigious honor.

Florida Legal Elite has acknowledged Haggard, McCarron and other top attorneys in the state of Florida in various practice areas. This year's list of 918 Legal Elite attorneys represents less than 2% of the nearly 63,000 Florida Bar members practicing in Florida.

The Florida Legal Elite honorees were chosen by nominations and votes. Nomination announcements were sent to all attorneys in the state where they had the opportunity to list who they feel are the top attorneys practicing in the state. Michael Haggard Elected President of the Florida Justice Association

Haggard was officially sworn in as the 50th President at the 2009 Florida Justice Association Annual Convention held recently at the Turnberry Isle Resort in Aventura.

Coral Gables, Florida (July 6, 2009) – Michael Andrew Haggard, partner at Coral Gables based Haggard Law Firm, was named president of the Florida Justice Association (formerly the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers), a statewide legal organization comprised of civil trial lawyers in the State of Florida. Haggard was officially sworn in as the 50th president of the organization at the 2009 Florida Justice Associations Annual Convention held recently at the Turnberry Isle Resort in Aventura, Florida.

In this prestigious position of president of the Florida Justice Association, Haggard will lead more than 3,000 attorneys who work in the legislative, political and media arenas to ensure that Floridians know and understand the importance of their rights to justice and to make certain that these rights are safeguarded and protected. Prior to his appointment of president, Haggard climbed the ranks of leadership within the Florida Justice Association by serving on the board of directors and then the executive committee.

Haggard concentrates his trial practice in personal injury litigation specializing in pool drowning accidents, premises liability, negligent security, wrongful death and medical malpractice. Haggard earned his bachelors degree from Florida State University and his law degree from the University of Miami.
